Sam King tipped Solar Army (4/1) to score last night and is back with two selections on Thursday.
Solar Army helped balance the books in a night of what could have been yesterday. Lady Manzaor was left poorly positioned throughout her seven-furlong contest, while Heathcliff was the eye-catcher of all eye-catchers, having run on nicely after stumbling out of the stalls.
That's all in the past, though, and we're back for more.
I suspect Tommy Cullen could take a bit of beating in the extended two-and-a-half-mile handicap chase at Southwell (4.05) this afternoon.
Matt Crawley's seven-year-old has developed into something of a Doncaster specialist, but there's no reason to suggest he can't be at his best around Southwell, and he's run some excellent races in defeat at other venues in the past.
He won nicely on the Town Moore in February before looking a touch unlucky not to follow up over the same course and distance last month, where a bad mistake at the third last probably put paid to his chances.
The winner that day, Bob Bob Ricard, is improving over fences and has since come out and been beaten just over five lengths in a decent Class 2 handicap chase at Newbury last weekend.
A winner over two miles and three and a half furlongs over hurdles, stepping up to the extended two and a half miles shouldn't pose any issues and off an unchanged mark of 115, he looks like he has every chance of regaining the winning thread.
2pt Win – Tommy Cullen
Odds – 6/4
Over at Chelmsford, General Assembly could be the type to run up a small sequence for fledgling trainer Jack Morland.
He made every yard of the running when responding well to pressure to score by a neck in a similar sprint at Wolverhampton recently, taking his record to two from three over the minimum trip in the process.
Although he received an aggressive ride when landing the spoils at Wolverhampton last time, I suspect Callum Shepherd will be happy to take a lead this evening with plenty of pace on paper.
Connections also reach for first-time cheekpieces, suggesting he may have been holding something back for himself last time out. If that's the case, then a 2lb nudge up the weights should be workable, and he's selected to follow up from a positive draw in stall three.
1pt Win – General Assembly
Odds – 11/4
