Aidan O’Brien’s Epsom Derby hero Lambourn could take on a maximum of nine rivals when he bids to complete the English and Irish Derby double at the Curragh on Sunday.
Always towards the fore under Wayne Lordan, the three-year-old son of Australia galloped on resolutely to see off both Lazy Griff and Tennessee Stud in fine style, proving Aidan O'Brien with his eleventh Epsom Derby in the process and replicating the feat of his sire in 2014.
Both Charlie Johnston's Lazy Griff and Joseph O'Brien's Tennessee Stud, who filled the second and third spot at Epsom, could reoppose after the duo featured on the confirmation list.
Jessica Harrington's Green Impact could step up to a mile and a half for the first time following his victory in the nine-furlong Listed Irish Stallion Farms EBF Glencairn Stakes at Leopardstown earlier in the month.
The Ralph Beckett-trained Pride Of Arras adds further interest as he has the option of putting his Epsom Derby disappointment behind him at the Curragh. A winner of the Dante Stakes at York in May, the son of New Bay was sent off just 4/1 for the prestigious Classic but never looked at ease on the track and ultimately only managed to beat one of his eighteen rival's home.
Ralph Beckett has also confirmed Sir Dinadan, while Aidan O'Brien is responsible for Puppet Master, Serious Contender, Thrice and Shackleton.
On Saturday, a possible field of 15 fillies' and mares will take centre stage in the Group 1 Paddy Power Pretty Polly Stakes.
Aidan O'Brien has left in Epsom and French Oaks runners-ups Whirl and Bedtime Story. The pair could be joined by stablemate Ecstatic, while Paddy Twomey is responsible for six confirmations, with Purple Lily, Catalina Delcarpio, Beechwood, One Look, Royal Entry and Magical Hope all possibilities at this stage.
The Andrew Balding-trained Kalpana looks to head the British challenge after her promising reappearance behind Los Angeles and Anmaat in the Tattersalls Gold Cup, while David O'Meara could saddle his highly exciting striking grey Estrange, who created a massive impression winning the Group 3 Lester Piggott Stakes at Haydock last time out.
