Having suffered only one defeat to date - which came on debut - from four previous starts, the three-year-old used the Listed Cheshire Oaks over 1m3½f as a springboard to Classic success at Epsom, narrowly prevailing by a neck over stablemate Whirl. In similar fashion to her Epsom win, Ryan Moore elected to settle her in midfield early on this occasion before asking for improvement straightening for home with three furlongs to run.

Relishing a battle, the daughter of Frankel was driven out to assume the lead inside the final half-furlong and galloped strongly through the line to score by one-and-a-quarter lengths over Joseph O'Brien's Wemightakedlongway. Ballydoyle stablemate Island Hopping faded late to finish third, a further two-and-a-half lengths away.

Speaking to RTÉ following her win, Aidan O'Brien said: "She's one of those fillies that you're probably never going to see at her best until the tempo is very strong and very high. She cruises through her races. The boss asked Ryan where to go with her and he said to go to the Yorkshire Oaks, but he also said we could give her a break and train her for the Vermeille and give her a French Arc prep, so all those things are open."

"I think she can do either of those things, but if she's going to the French trial she'd have to have a couple of easy weeks," he continued. "She had a very easy race today, I'd say. The tempo wasn't very strong so she should come out of it well. Looking at her, she'd probably love York. She has a big stride and it's a flat track too."

Minnie Hauk is out of the Dansili mare Multilingual, herself a half-sister to multiple Group 1-winning miler Kingman. She is also a half-sister to Tilsit, winner of the 2022 Summer Mile Stakes (Gr 2) and now standing at stud in Turkey. In victory today, she joins an illustrious honour roll of seven previous Ballydoyle Irish Oaks winners, including Peeping Fawn (2007), Snowfall (2021) and Savethelastdance (2023).

Paddy Power make Minnie Hauk a joint 10/1 antepost favourite alongside Epsom Oaks runner-up Whirl for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, having been cut in from 16/1 prior to Saturday's success.
