More to come from the Curragh

After a star-studded Saturday at the Curragh we are back for more.

Sunday's group races start with the Meadow Court G3 for f&m over 2000m and here Sir Mark Prescott's Tasmania is favourite on 9/4 with Luke Morris in the irons.  There's more of an Aussie flavour here too with Uluru on 13/2 for Joseph O'Brien with Ryan Moore riding and then Naomi Lapaglia (not an Aussie as far as we know unless she's related to actor Anthony) who is 5/1 for Lyons-Carroll.  10 run.

The Minstrel Stakes is G2 over 1400m with 11 runners headed by Diego Velazquez who painted beautiful animals and not so beautiful royals in his original iteration.  The equine version is on 5/4 here  for Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore.  The Johnny Murtagh trained Ben Coen ridden Chicago Critic is on 13/2 and Joseph O'Brien saddles Vespertilio on 6/1 with McMonagle riding.

Saturday's racing saw the talented filly True Love  inflict a hiding on the colts in winning the Railway Stakes by 5 lengths over stablemate Puerto Rico.  She has a tremendous turn of foot and left the other 3 runners looking shell-shocked.

The Sapphire Stake saw Arizona Blaze emerge from the pack and demolish it in the Sapphire Stakes with favourite Mgheera left flat-footed (? Flat hooved) .  Songhai took the third money with 8 runners in the field.

The Irish Oaks saw the lovely Minnie Hauk get her fourth win and a very rare double of the Irish Oaks on top of the Epsom version.  She may go to the Arc – many possibilities.  She had to dig deep for a bit in the straight against Wemightakedlongway but like all good horses she found that extra gear to finish well.

Al Riffa ran away with the Curragh Cup and the Melbourne Cup is now in the conversation.  Trainer Joseph O'Brien is no stranger to that conversation and will be the right person to judge if that agenda is suitable.
