Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for June 29.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Coffs Harbour, Dubbo, Casterton, Ballarat, Townsville, Broome, Kalgoorlie and Devonport Synthetic.
COFFS HARBOUR: RACE 5 @ 2:28 PM
ZELESTIAL (6) exciting mare near her top now third up. Drifted back early and the slow tempo was against her when closing late to finish fifth over 1280m at Muswellbrook. Will relish this trip and race closer to the speed. Hard to hold out. VENCE (5) may have struggled on the back-up at his second run in when a fading ninth over 1600m at Scone. Winning rider back aboard and assess on his smart on pace win first up. SHALAMIYNA (7) returned for her second prep with a commanding 2.75 len win over 1250m at Taree. Can go on with it this time in. Stays in the mix. MEGHAN (8) due for a change of luck fourth up and the extra trip is in her favour. Held on okay when fifth over 1208m at Port Macquarie. No excuses from the draw. FALL FOR AUTUMN (3) sharp winner at start three over the 1205m here. Place prospects best.
SELECTIONS: Zelestial to assert her authority.
As a FREE Racing and Sports offer, below is the Coffs Harbour Computer Card.
DUBBO: RACE 2 @ 1:35 PM
CONSIDERED (3) has been a short priced favourite in two runs back this time in and been beaten either narrowly or by half a length. Up in distance now, drawn well and won't find a more suitable target than this. EPIC STATEMENT (15) resumed in the same race at Tamworth last time and ran well. Also aided by the rise in distance and an improved showing can be expected. POIEMA (8) has been freshened up since an even effort to place at Wyong last time around. Had a few chances but is honest and has to be included. PHILS COLOURS (1) has a show second-up and WEDDAMEENOOTZ (2) could be an improver after some support at debut.
SELECTIONS: Considered to win.
CASTERTON: RACE 4 @ 2:20 PM
Onto the flat now and MANIFEST THE MILLI (3) resumes with an attractive profile for a race of this nature. His first two runs in his debut campaign were very good before being pitched right up in the Vobis Guineas at Caulfield and struggling behind subsequent G1 winner Benagil. Should go close. FROSTY NIGHT (8) has been knocking on the door with back to back placings at her past couple, edged out narrowly here last time out. Up to 1400m third up now looks ideal. LA MOMA (10) is a lightly raced type who improved nicely second up here, not far behind Frosty Night. Can continue to improve and maps for a good run. MISS GOSSIP GIRL (11) ran well first up at Wangaratta on a wet track and will be fitter for that with each way claims. MISS MAVERICK (12) was a bit better at Donald and can place.
SELECTIONS: Manifest The Milli to win.
BALLARAT: RACE 4 @ 1:20 PM
TULCHAN (6) peaks and placed his latest at Swan Hill, stepping up to 2400m. Bates is reunited and he can break through with that run under the belt. He placed over 2400m at Geelong when he last confronted heavy conditions. TRIORA (11) is in the premier barn and is fourth up looking for this trip. She's back on turf and is sure to keep improving. OBSTRUCTIONIST (5) comes out of the same race on the Ballarat Synthetic and should also appreciate the staying trip. John Allen is reunited and there's few better jocks around here. CLYDEBANK ROBBER (2) led and found a place this distance range at Geelong, making sharp improvement. He hasn't won in 44 starts but would be in the frame holding that form. HONEYJOY (9) peaks and may be the best of the rest.
SELECTIONS: Going with Tulchan.
TOWNSVILLE: RACE 3 @ 1:56 PM
You'd love to own a stable full of gallopers like LEAN EAGLE (7) who is yet to miss the top-four in nine career outings with Wiggins being on board for all but one of those efforts. Has a win and two seconds from four attempts over this six-furlong journey and will strip fitter second-up from the spell. Looks the one they all have to run down. CHARTWELL (6) has only missed a drum once in seven spins around this circuit and rarely puts in a poor one. Has the ability to test this field. SUPER FAST (5) returned to the winners' stall over this track and trip last time out and will take a bunch of confidence from that victory. Keep very safe. TYMON (10) loves this course and distance with two wins and three seconds from just five outings. Cannot be discounted. MEMPHIS SHADOW (1) has been well in the betting in recent runs and where there's smoke there's fire.
SELECTIONS: Siding with Lean Eagle.
BROOME: RACE 2 @ 4:09 PM
Very similar field to the race ROGUES POINT (1) won here two weeks back. He did it in style on that occasion, stalking the leader and then pouncing when it mattered, proving too strong. He's the one they need to beat again. ROEY CLAM (5) was the leader in that race, and just ran out of juice in the final furlong. Will have taken plenty from that race and can turn the tables. STARRING KNIGHT (2) wasn't far off in that same race when 4th and looms as an each-way hope again today. FIND YOUR MAN (4) is in a similar boat heading into today's race and should relish the additional trip, while GAMBLER'S GOLD (3) shapes as the big improver second-up.
SELECTIONS: Stay with ROGUES POINT who took care of most of these last time in.
KALGOORLIE: RACE 5 @ 5:05 PM
WINEACLOCKSUMWHERE (6) just missed at this track and trip last time out when beaten in a photo finish as favourite, and the race has already produced 2 winners from 4 subsequent starters. This shapes similarly for Faithfull and there's no reason why he can't go one better. TEABISCUIT (8) disappointed last start at Bunbury but will find this much easier than his most recent assignment. The 4kg claim comes in handy and he'll carry no weight for Nettle. Can press on and will be tough to run down. KAKADU (2) drops back in trip slightly but draws a nice gate and can play a role. EEVALINA (1) can make her presence felt.
SELECTIONS: Wineaclocksumwhere can go one better this time.
DEVONPORT SYNTHETIC: RACE 2 @ 12:32 PM
SKELMORLIE (9) has been good since the switch from a top Victorian stable and missed 1.5L here last time as favourite. Come back in trip but that shouldn't be a bother. Maps well and rates to be winning. ELLA MAY (6) is third up and has more up the sleeve. She will use the rail and give a sight. THE MOUNTAINEER (5) went close in the Skelmorlie race at big odds and will be around the mark holding that form. RAGING WATERS (4) was terrible in the same contest, having his first go on the synthetic. Draws much better this time and may be worth another chance on the surface. CHALONG (1) peaks and can improve over the longer sprint.
SELECTIONS: Like Skelmorlie.
