Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for July 8.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meeting are today held at Muswellbrook, Goulburn, Ballarat and Beaudesert.
MUSWELLBROOK: RACE 1 @ 12:50 PM
MAD HARRY (7) brings a solid set of figures here and expected to shed his maiden status at start twenty-seven. Can race a little closer from the good draw after finishing an encouraging second over 1300m at Scone. HE'STHECHIEF (3) fitter after two encouraging runs back and will relish the claim again on his home track. Sat off the pace before closing late when third over 1200m at Tamworth. Looks the main danger. TIGERMOTH (9) failed to fire in three career starts and strips fitter for this after resuming with a plugging sixth over 900m at Scone. Each way player. HOT CHESTNUT (4) much better effort at his second run back when sitting on the pace for a tiring fourth over 900m at Scone. Trained locally and not to be underestimated.
SELECTIONS: Mad Harry to finally salute.

GOULBURN: RACE 5 @ 2:55 PM
The local WEXFORD MISS (3) went to Hawkesbury ready to win and disappointed. Placed on a heavy track here prior off a narrow defeat at Wagga - all in stronger. Carries more weight but will be tough to beat. SANTOLINI (11) followed a Wagga Maiden with a 2.5L defeat there in a CL1. Went well on the heavy at Albury three back and is a chance to bounce. EPAULLO CREED (1) is a leader in good hands and is knocking on the door. Likes it wet and the 4kg claim brings him right into it. EAST HARLEM (7) made good improvement beaten 1.5L behind Loch Erin at Wagga on a slow track. He'd be in the finish holding that form.
SELECTIONS: Wexford Miss appeals most.
BALLARAT SYNTHETIC: RACE 2 @ 2:00 PM
SUPERVISE (2) franked some good trial form with an easy all the way win for his new trainer at Seymour near the end of May. He was then a late scratching after refusing to be loaded into the barriers and had to go back to the trials, where he duly did everything right and won. Hard to beat from the pole position here. SHOWIES BEST SHOT (1) is a very quick mare on her day, and she will be resuming from a spell here. She normally takes a run to get ready, but has won the latest of 3 tune-up trials leading into this. She should be ready to rumble fresh up, so keep an eye on the market moves. MONSOON REINS (5) won fresh up on this course, and since then, he has gotten too far back in his races. He drops 4kg from his last run, and is worth another chance. FUGACITY (3) has led up and been run down over 1200m here in his last couple of starts. Stick with him.
SELECTIONS: Supervise to win.
BEAUDESERT: RACE 6 @ 3:04 PM
HEADHUNTER (11) hasn't been too far away in tougher metropolitan contests this campaign and the form he showed in his first preparation was more than good enough for a race like this. Looks the runner in this field with the most upside and a return to the winners' stall would not surprise. RASHFORD (15) is another who has been plying his trade in town and is drawn to get a soft run from gate three. Among the leading chances if he brings his A-game. MISHANI GANGSTER (6) has hit the top-four in four of his past five starts and gets 2kg weight relief with the claim. Only needs some luck navigating from the sticky draw to be playing a role in the outcome. BAUHINIA ROCK (2) will be cherry-ripe now fifth-up from the spell and cannot be left out of calculations. The well-related CAPITAL BOSS (7) (half to G3 winner Shamalia) next in line at long odds.
SELECTIONS: Headhunter to bounce back.
