Over 160 horses hit the track in Tuesday’s buzzing session. Port Louis stayed cool, Itsrainingwilliam edged The Mauritian again, and Captain Bombshell looked race ready.
It is correct to state that there was plenty of buzz this morning both from the skies and underfoot! There may have been light drizzle at the start of the session, but it did not last, with the sun breaking through and blue skies soon dominating the horizon.
This morning witnessed the biggest turnout yet, with around 160 horses entering the training grounds. Trainers Vincent Allet, Ramapatee Gujadhur, Rameshwar Gujadhur, Samraj Mahadia, Selvom Mootien, Arveen Nagadoo, Vicky Ruhee, and Amar Sewdyal sent most of their strings out for fast workouts. In contrast, horses trained by Preetam Daby, Carl Hewitson, and Shirish Narang did light exercises.
Focus naturally fell on those expected to be in the starting stalls for the Duchess of York Cup. Good Council opened the show with a crisp 1000m gallop, looking sharp going uphill. William Iron Arm outmuscled his sparring partner Goethe late in their 1200m piece. Just as on Friday, Itsrainingwilliam reaffirmed his edge over The Mauritian, while Port Louis looked very composed throughout his workout alongside Join The Dots.
Captain Bombshell produced a very sharp 800m gallop, suggesting he is very close to his optimal form. Infrared and Kaisarissa galloped stride for stride over 1000m, with both showing a good turn of foot in the home straight.
Other horses that ticked the right boxes this morning included The Gatekeeper, Royal Sovereign, Betathantherest, United Prince, Mind Map, Babylon, Elmo, Emerald Band, and Vartacus.
