Race 1: ESPERANCE RETRAVISION MAIDEN (1600m)
SUGARED UP (6) has been racing well since moving to this area and was beaten by a nose last week over 1400m. She will relish racing over a mile and is ready to break through for an overdue win. NADELL (7) found the 1400m too short for her last start in the same race as the top pick, finishing sixth. She was building her form nicely before that and should bounce straight back into the money here. ELOUNDA STAR (8) was fourth in the same race as the top pick and will be peaking third up from a spell. A good draw makes her among the top 3 chances this time. MANGANUI (1) hit the line strongly last start over 1300m and finished runner-up by a short-head. He has been placed twice over a mile and can go one better. BIG NOTER (4) has turned a corner lately and is worth including in all combinations.
Race 2: CONGRATULATIONS TYSON AND TAYLOR HANDICAP (1600m)
ROGUES POINT (1) has had a couple of starts back from a spell at Ascot and will find this company more to his liking. He usually improves with racing and will relish stepping up from 1200m to a mile. Clearly on top here. WHEATSTACK THIEF (7) has been racing consistently this prep and only peaked on his run late here last week when finishing fourth. The extra furlong will suit him and he is a top 3 chance this time. I AM SPARTACUS (2) is a tough veteran who has not been over-taxed with racing for a 9-year-old gelding. He has a very good record on the track and deserves another winning turn. Each way. KALLAROO (4) whacked away fairly for sixth in the same race as the second pick last start. He won't lack fitness and another honest effort is on the cards. MAGIC WILL REIGN (6) should be nearing his peak fitness third up and has his chance to run into the money for the first time this year. Include in all combinations to be safe.
Race 3: ESPERANCE KIA MAIDEN (1100m)
SURE THING (1) is an ex-Victorian gelding who was last seen finishing third at Bairnsdale in the spring. He will be stronger this year and meets a very average field here. A good draw will ensure that he will have plenty of admirers fresh up. Watch closely. ESSENTIALLY (8) ran out of puff after setting the pace in his first local start on the track. She will be much fitter third up and may try and take them all the way this time. AWEEMAWAY (3) showed some ability last year and would have matured over his break. He has had a tune-up trial and is worth each-way consideration in a field like this. GEM'S MAN (2) has been trying to win a race for a long time and had his chance when finishing fourth here last week over 1200m. The drop back to 1100m could be the key and he should be included in all multiples. ROSAY ALLDAY (11) showed pace last start over 1300m but stopped quickly. She has a furlong less to travel this time and may not be the worst for a top 4 placing.
Race 4: OD TRANSPORT HANDICAP (1100m)
BOOZEROO (2) is a very good local gelding who made it 2 wins from as many starts this prep when scoring in this company just over 5 weeks ago. He is at his best with his races well-spaced and the hat-trick beckons. DEBONNAIRE (3) is a very progressive performer who won them in a row last prep. He is unbeaten in 2 starts third up and is ready to win again at short notice. Don't risk him in this. Can win. BLAZING PASSION (6) fought on gamely last start after settling a long way back early on. She is likely to get a pace that will suit her here and will be hitting the line strongly. Watch for her late. SOME SORT (4) is having his third start for local trainer Jane Hossell and ran his best race in some time last week when finishing third. He has plenty of pace and will take some pegging back again. WESTERNIZE (10) challenged strongly last start and was just over a length from the winner in fifth place. She can secure another cosy run here and with 100m less to travel, can place.
Race 5: ESPERANCE KIA HANDICAP (1400)
CHOIXWAY (3) won fresh up by a nose at Geraldton and then was running on strongly to finish fifth at Ascot 10 days ago over 1200m. That form reads well for this assignment and with an extra furlong to travel, he can take this out. CRUNCHY NUT (2) can be hard to catch and made it 2 wins from his last 3 starts when scoring by a length here 2 weeks ago. He has a good draw and if in the right mood, can double the dose. KENNY THE KING (6) clung on grimly when posting an all-the-way win here over 1300m fresh up by a nose. He then fought on gamely over a mile last time out when finishing third and with a furlong less to travel here, he will be hard to peg back. CHAD'S ME DAD (7) is a speedy mare who has the right draw to take up her usual spot but will be kept company by a few other speedsters. The blinkers are back on and she is always a top 4 chance. This track should suit her as well. HABIB (4) can't be ruled out of a top 3 finish in an even contest.
Race 6: CLEANAWAY 131339 HANDICAP (1600m)
EVERLASTING SPIRIT (6) built her form strongly and recorded an overdue but deserved win here last week over 1400m, The extra furlong won't worry her and if this race has not come too soon for her, she can repeat the dose. PRIZED JEWEL (4) took her time to win her maiden and then made it 2 wins from her last 3 starts when flashing home late to score by a short-head here 7-days ago. She stays in the same class and only has to carry an extra 1.5kg. She can have the last say again. MINOR DETAIL (5) fought on well enough when finishing third here a fortnight ago over the same trip. He is in a good space and will be right in the finish again. KEEP A KNOCKIN' (2) raced too keenly in the middle stages of his last race and will be better for the run. He gets another chance over a mile and if Kyra Yuill can switch him off early this time, he can bounce straight back into the money. WEST COAST WARRIOR (1) has been holding his form since winning his maiden fresh up. Stick with him.
Race 7: ELJAYS BAR AND RESTAURANT HANDICAP (1200)
DEMETRIOUS (3) is a lot stronger this prep for his new trainer Anthony Barton and franked a good run for second in his penultimate start with a comfortable maiden win here last week. He has a fair bit of upside for this area and can go right on with the job. BUSTERS FREE (6) needed his first start for a new local trainer and will be a lot sharper for this assignment. He has had a couple of gear changes since then and is expected to improve quickly. Each way. FAVAIOS (4) capped off some strong form with an easy maiden win over 1100m here 2 weeks ago. He cops wide gate this time but is good enough to overcome that and figure in the finish again. ROYAL ACCOLADE (1) put together a brace of wins to open his season and then was runner-up after leading last time out just over 4 weeks ago. He has improved a lot this time in work and is a winning threat again. Stick with him. MARYBEE (8) is another who has appreciated country-class racing and another honest effort is on the cards.
