Compared to yesterday, it was rather calm at the Champ de Mars this morning, with just 38 horses hitting the sand track to do fast workouts.

Trainers Samraj Mahadia and Carl Hewitson sent most of their strings out for fast workouts. They were joined by a few horses trained by Selvom Mootien, Arveen Nagadoo, Shirish Narang and Vicky Ruhee

Plenty of horses trained by Samraj Mahadia caught the eye with their very sharp workouts. They included Babylon, Global Glory, Super Excited, Quatro Five Six, Transonic and Juniper Lane.

Cumbre Vieja did an impressive piece of work over 600m, displaying a strong turn of foot going uphill. Fencing Captain produced a 1000m spin, and looked bright and sharp in the home straight.

Equipped with the drop-noseband, Illicit Kiss did a 1200m spin, producing a good turn of speed in the straight.

Most of the new horses that arrived in Mauritius last month have already started their prep and are expected to debut later on this season.
